Had a very rough, emotionally and mentally draining session with my therapist today. Didn't want to go back home, but didn't feel like going anywhere else.
The promise of rain for today is quickly falling apart. A few tiny sprinkles tempted the dry earth for about 5 minutes, and then, nothing.
I sat and watched a handful of raindrops fall on the living room window, almost holding my breath in anticipation of a long overdue and much needed soaking.
As I waited, I thought about how wonderful it would be to walk outside in the rain. I pictured myself standing there, looking upward while the drops rolled down my body. A deep sadness came over me when I realized those few drops of water would be all. There would be no more.
I now realize as I write this, there is a drought in my life. I am the dry, parched earth, waiting for showers of rain to wash away the dust from my life.
A major decision is before me. One that I am hesitant to make. Something inside whispers in my ear to just hold on, hold on a little longer.
Does there come a time when you MUST let go and let the chips fall where they may?
Time ticks loudly in my ear. Each day that passes, is one day wasted and gone forever.
I need rain showers in my life, yet all I can see ahead of me is more drought and zero chance of rain.
Not long ago, I wrote a post about the Hee-Haw show that my friend, Bev, wrote, produced and directed for our elementary school. This Conway Twitty song is the one that I sang with Jim.
The photo below was captured by my Daddy, just mintues into the song.
Bev can be seen dressed in black and white as LuLu Roman.
Interesting story about the photo, many years after this performance,we were at a concert in Gadsden,Alabama where LuLu was a surprise guest. Bev and I took the opportunity after she left the stage to talk to her. Knowing that I just happened to have the photo with me, Bev showed it to LuLu who roared with laughter and screamed, "I LOVE IT".
LuLu autographed the back of the photo for me.
"Old Flame", mentioned in the same post, can also be seen in the photograph.
I wanted to include this photo with the above mentioned post, but couldn't find it at the time. Happened upon it today and it brought back memories, so I thought I would post the song and the photo.
